Dimethyl carbonate, DMC, is a carbonate ester that is carbonic acid in which both hydrogens are replaced by methyl groups. A flammable, colourless liquid (m.p. 2-4℃, b.p. 90℃) with a characterstic ester-like odour, it is used as a 'green' methylating agent and as a solvent.

The content of DMC is over 99.99% and it is characterized by high purity, low water content, few artifactual bands and stable quality. Other side reactions can be eliminated during use to provide higher stability. Provides technical services for raw material testing, electrolyte analysis, formula optimization and new material development.

DMC can be widely used in producing polycarbonate, pharmaceutical and pesticide, and also can be used as solvent in paints, coating and adhesive.

DMC/ dimethyl carbonate/ is also finding increasing application in the field of rechargable lithium batteries as a nonaqueous electrolyte component, as well as a blowing agent in polyurethane foam.

A1: Slightly soluble in water. DIMETHYL CARBONATE reacts with acids to liberate heat along with methanol and carbon dioxide. Strong oxidizing acids may cause a vigorous reaction that is sufficiently exothermic to ignite the reaction products.
